Talking to Your Daughter about Menstrual Problems
There are many menstrual problems that your young girl can experience at the beginning stages of her menstrual cycle. Some of the problems can be nothing more than the body adjusting to the new changes, while others can be related to bigger problems. Ensuring that your daughter feels comfortable talking to you about what she is experiencing.
Menstrual bleeding can be light or it can be heavy. A heavy menstrual flow doesnt necessarily mean that there is a bigger problem, but it can. Especially if the problems persist for the entire length of her menstrual cycle and for an extended amount of time. Painful menstrual periods are the same, your period should only be painful the first 1 or 2 days from when your period begins. If she is having pain for the entire length of her period this can be a problem and she should go to the doctors.
Menstrual irregularity is generally going to occur during the first few years of the beginning of the menstrual cycle because the body sometimes takes longer to adjust to the changes in hormone levels. She might experience that she first gets her period but it isnt until a few month later that she gets it again.
There is absolutely nothing fun about menstrual bleeding and the additional things that come along with it just makes it that much more difficult to adjust to for a young child. It seems as if children are beginning to develop younger and are starting their menstrual cycle at younger ages. This is why its important that you begin looking for the signs before it happens to discuss the changes that she will experience. There is nothing worse than it happening without the understanding of what is going on. You will also want to discuss these period problems with her as well in order for her to recognize anything that doesnt seem right so she can talk to you about it.
There is a great amount of helpful information that you can find online that will guide you in the menstrual cycle as well as gynecologic problems. Gynecologic problems consist of urinary tract infections, or UTI. Its important that she understands all of the symptoms and notices the signs to catch any problems early enough so that they do not lead to bigger problems. Its always better to be safe than sorry especially when it comes to your childs health.
