Poker Rooms of the World: Miccosukee Resort and Casino, Miami, FL
In this occasional series on the most glamorous and fun-to-play poker rooms of the world, we take a look at the Miccosukkee Resort and Casino, in Miami.
According to Poker News latest feature on this “fabulous” gambling resort and hotel, there are 302 rooms, a 1,200-seat bingo hall, 1,700 slot machines, 46,000 square feet of convention hall meeting space, five restaurants, two bars, and a slew of “regular entertainment.”
And how about the poker room? It’s big enough to rival some online poker rooms, with approximately 58 tables in one large room.
Beyond the logistics however, there’s apparently nothing about this room that’s recommended by Poker News writer Ashley Adams. The staff was less than friendly, and the rake was a bit suspect (they round up, and don’t care that you care). You’re also banned from doing a host of activities while at the poker table, including having fun.
The staff also had a peculiar way of helping people cash out after their game: the head flick. No arm gestures or anything, just a flick of the head in the general direction of the cage and a grunt or two before they returned to work. Sounds nice. Oh, and it was clogged with smoke due to a malfunctioning air filtration system. Sounds like a pass.
